Define Requirements
EluGen and the customer establish the production requirements and expectations for the order.
Managing different materials on the same extrusion line comes with challenges. Stopping production of high-volume materials like PLA and PETG to clean, purge, and adjust the line for smaller ASA or ABS runs reduces efficiency and increases production cost. That tradeoff can lead to limited ASA and ABS offerings—or to removing those materials from the catalog altogether.
EluGen’s contract-manufacturing model is designed to take on those ASA and ABS runs so your production line can stay focused on higher-volume products.
Commercial operations are being built out in Houston, TX, with production expected to start Q4 2026.
Discuss Your Manufacturing NeedsThe challenge of small ASA & ABS volumes
Smaller ASA and ABS runs may require less extrusion time, but they still require line time, material changeovers, stabilization, cleaning and dedicated inventory.
Smaller ASA and ABS batches can interrupt longer production campaigns and take line time away from higher-volume materials.
Switching materials requires purging, stabilizing the extrusion process and cleaning the line before production can move to the next product.
Smaller resin purchases come at a higher cost, while bulk purchases lower material cost but can leave manufacturers storing large quantities of slower-moving ASA and ABS resin.
Supporting ASA and ABS can require compatible styrenic masterbatch, adding another group of colors to purchase, store and manage.
Larger batches improve production efficiency but can leave more cash tied up in finished ASA and ABS inventory. Smaller batches reduce finished-goods inventory but require more frequent changeovers.
How EluGen can help
Let EluGen become an extension of your manufacturing operation. EluGen can manufacture ASA and ABS filament to your specifications for material, color, diameter, tolerance, packaging and labeling.
EluGen sources ASA and ABS resins from established domestic and international manufacturers. Specific resin manufacturers or grades can be incorporated into the production specification when required.
EluGen uses masterbatch selected for styrenic materials. Manufacturers can choose from available EluGen colors or request a color match to an existing product portfolio.
Spool format, labels and boxes can be produced to customer specifications and branded with the customer's logo, ready for distribution through the customer's sales channels.
Consistent filament diameter and tight tolerances are critical to reliable printing performance. EluGen will manufacture to agreed tolerances and maintain production records for lot identification, quality verification and traceability.
Working with EluGen
EluGen and the customer establish the production requirements and expectations for the order.
Initial samples are produced for review and approval before recurring production begins.
EluGen manufactures the filament to the approved specifications, including spooling, labeling, packaging, quality checks and production records.
Once production is complete, the finished lot can be picked up from EluGen or shipped to the customer's facility or another specified destination, such as a fulfillment or distribution center.
Commercial production is expected to begin in Q4 2026. Let us know your material, color, packaging requirements, and estimated volume, and EluGen will follow up to discuss next steps.
